The [Not So] Expendables

Here’s another great contribution from Andy

Let’s not dance around this fact: Every team in the world is significantly weakened when their best player is absent. Whether it’s the Spanish National Team, the Harrisburg City Islanders, or the local pick-up group in your neighborhood, it doesn’t take in-depth analysis to recognize that missing talent is indeed… well, missed.

Bayern Munich Concede Title Race to Borussia Dortmund
Despite their twenty point lead in the Bundesliga and despite being only two points away from claiming their twenty-third championship, Bayern Munich announced today that they have conceded defeat to die Schwarzgelben. In the aftermath of Bayern’s 9-2 win over Hamburg SV, Bayern’s CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, wanted to extend his congratulations to Borussia Dortmund on their ninth Meisterschaft.
“Even with a 20-point lead, we have to accept that Dortmund produce the superior football,” Rummenigge said. “Just look at this weekend, their 2-1 win was a lot more impressive than our 9-2 because of their Echte Liebe. We had to copy the pressing in order to score 7 more goals. Echte Liebe feeds the families in Dortmund, Echte Liebe creates their true football and we as record champions know better than anyone else that this makes them true champions.”
It has been a record-setting season for die Bayern so this news undoubtedly will come as a disappointment for Bayern fans across the globe. However, Rummenigge wants their fans to know that Bayern have not given up on everything this season.
“We must not make the mistake of letting this championship matter,” he said. “That is what threw our concentration last season. This time, we focus only on the Champion’s League.”
In addition to the title, Bayern will also gift Dortmund their lost Super Cup from August of 2012 and the Yingli Cup from the Bavarians tour of China last summer. President Uli Hoeneß will include a few Nürnberg sausages and soft-serve ice cream cones in the package.
Rummenigge concluded his press conference with a smile on his face saying, “At the end of the day, their Echte Liebe makes them the real champion and deserving opponent of the mighty Paulaner XI.”
